     VISA

You need to have a visa tourist in order to visit Nepal. You can obtain it at the Tribhuvan Airport of Katmandou, and do not forget to bring two identity photos with you.

There are three types of tourist visa that you can buy at the airport:

-     15 days Visa, 15 dollars

-     30 days Visa, 40 dollars

-     90 days Visa, 100 dollars

You are also allowed to extend the Visa there, at the Immigration Department (in Katmandou or Pokhara), until a maximum of 150 days per year (from 1st January to 31st December).

Another means is to demand it to the Consulate of your native country before arriving to Nepal.

If you are arriving in Nepal by land transportation, you could obtain a Visa at the border, at the immigration office.

     TIMS CARD

Trekkers who want to visit different areas of Nepal must have the Trekkers Information Management System Card.

Indeed, this card permits to ensure your safety during your treks, in case of accident for example. Be as precise as possible when you create this card (arrival date, departure date, route, a contact number…) because this information is very useful in case of accident.

The TIMS Card can be delivered by trekking agencies or by the Tourism Board of Katmandou (10 minutes from Thamel). The price is about 15€. An identity photo is required.

     TREKKING PERMISSION

Different from the TIMS Card. In the most touristic areas of the country, the permission are no longer required (Annapurnas for example, and Katmandou area).

If you are travelling in group in these areas you must ask for a trekking permission: Dolpo, Mustang, Nar, Nagpa La, Jumla, Kangchenjunga. The price depends on the tour you chose and this money is used to protect the environment (for example, for the Mustang area, you will have to pay 700 USD per person for a 10 days trekking). You can obtain this permission at the immigration office of Katmandou.

     NATIONAL PARKS’S ENTRANCE FEE

In the Annapurnas, Langtang area and the Everest you don’t need a trekking permission, but you will be asked a national park entrance fee. You will pay 1000 nepali rupees (about 10€) in the Langtang area.

Do not forget to bring an identity photo and your passport. You can obtain the entrance fee at the entrance of the national park.
